How Memory Works

What companions remember​

On paid plans, your companion remembers things about you across conversations:

  • Facts — specific details you share (your name, job, hobbies, preferences)
  • Summaries — condensed recaps of past conversations
  • Relationship context — the overall tone and history of your relationship

Automatic extraction​

You do not need to do anything special. Memory is extracted automatically from your conversations. When you mention something important, the system stores it as a fact or incorporates it into conversation summaries.

Persistence​

Memory persists across sessions. When you come back days or weeks later, your companion still knows what you talked about before. This creates a continuous relationship that feels genuine rather than starting fresh every time.

Privacy​

Your memory data is private to your account. Companions only access memories from your conversations — never from other users. Your conversation data is never used to train AI models. For more details, see Encryption and Data.
